Week 22:

ZUME Session 5

For the first 30 minutes, please enjoy a meal together as a group. This is an intentional time set aside for fellowship. Eating together is a family activity, and helps us become like a spiritual family. This is one simple way we practice doing what Jesus did.

1/3rd

  • Pray for God to train up the group through His Word and Holy Spirit.

  • Ask: “What are you thankful for that God did this week?” (Have everyone share)

  • Ask: Based on the previous 3/3rds we did (Have everyone share):

    • “How did you obey what God taught you to do?”

    • “Who did you teach what God taught to you?”

  • Ask: “Does anyone need help this week? (meals, service, finances, etc.)

  • Ask: “What would you like prayer for?” (Have everyone share; everyone pray for the person on their right)

  • Focus on the Gospel: Read Colossians 2:9-15

    • Take communion as a group to celebrate this gospel passage.

    • Read 1 Corinthians 11:23-28 for communion instructions. Follow the Lord’s pattern and examine yourself before partaking.

    • Tell the group that everyone is to try to memorize the entire passage. You’ll have two months to memorize it.

ZUME TRAINING:

Discuss:

  • Can someone who has a "bad reputation" (like the Samaritan woman or the demon-possessed man in the Gadarenes) really be a Person of Peace? Why or why not?

  • What is a community or segment of society near you that seems to have little (or no) Kingdom presence? How could a Person of Peace (someone who is OPEN, HOSPITABLE, KNOWS OTHERS and SHARES) accelerate the spread of the Gospel in that community?

Discuss:

  • Why is pace important?

  • What do you need to change in your thinking, your actions, or your attitude to be better aligned with God's priority for pace?

  • What is one thing you can do starting this week that will make a difference?

Discuss:

  • What false fears keep us from sharing our testimony?

  • What makes a testimony effective? Where does its power come from?

Practice Instructions:

  • Split into men and women groups if applicable.

  • Pair up and each person takes 3 minutes to share their testimony. The other should keep the time on their phone.

  • After each get a chance to share, change pairs and practice again. Repeat this at least one more time for a total of 3 times; up to 5 times max.

This Week’s Application:

  • Make a plan to share your testimony with each of the 5 people you’ve been daily praying for.

  • Plan a time this upcoming week to train your “one” in sharing their testimony and making their own plan to share their testimony with their 5 that they’ve been daily praying for.

Ask someone pray to close out your group’s time.
