OPCC YOUTH

Middle & High School | Grades 6–12

Our mission is to love, lead, and equip our youth.

We love our students by leading them into the truth and understanding of God’s Word—and we equip them to be disciples of Christ, learning to hear and follow the voice of the Lord.

OPCC Youth is all about helping students discover who they are in Christ, build real friendships, and live out their faith with confidence. Whether you’ve grown up in church or you’re just starting to explore what you believe, you’re welcome here.

When We Meet

We gather every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Overland Park Community Church. Students from 6th through 12th grade are invited to join us for a night of connection, worship, and growing in faith together.

The evening begins with drop-off at the south entrance of OPCC at 6:30 PM. From there, students spend time hanging out, eating, and playing games until we move into a time of worship, teaching, and small groups.

Here’s how a typical Wednesday night flows:

  • 6:30–7:15 PM – Food, fellowship, and games

  • 7:15–7:30 PM – Worship led by the OPCC Youth Band

  • 7:30–8:00 PM – A large group message

  • 8:00–8:30 PM – Age specific breakout groups for discussion and connection

Every week is designed to help students feel known, challenged, and encouraged as they take their next steps with Jesus.

FAQ

Dropping Off or Coming In?

We love getting to meet new families—so if it’s your student’s first time at OPCC Youth, feel free to walk them in, say hey, and meet a few of our leaders. But if drop-off works better for you, that’s totally okay too.

Either way, we do ask that all first-time students have a quick info form filled out so we have emergency contact info and can keep you in the loop moving forward.

Can Parents Serve in OPCC Youth?

Absolutely! We believe youth ministry is stronger when families are involved. Whether it’s providing a meal on a Wednesday night, helping with a special event, or supporting behind the scenes, there are plenty of ways to be part of what God is doing.

If you are interested and being a being a part of this team in any capacity, reach out to corey@overlandpark.cc to get connected.

Transitioning to OPCC Youth

The move from OPCC Kids to OPCC Youth happens when students enter 6th grade. Fifth grade is their final year in our elementary ministry, and we encourage families to use the summer between 5th and 6th grade as a time of transition.

During that summer, many students continue attending OPCC Kids on Sunday mornings while also starting to join OPCC Youth on Wednesday nights. It’s a great way for them to get familiar with the rhythm, meet leaders, and feel more at home before fall rolls around.
